As I enjoy this sunny New England opening day, I reflect on my five years in the MLB with the Milwaukee Brewers. The stakes are high as a starting pitcher in professional baseball. My job was to keep my team in the game to give us a chance to win. My goals: pitching several innings to give us a strong start, throwing strikes to avoid walks, keeping the pitch count low, and keeping base runners in check. My strategies: studying the opposing team and developing a strategy, using a variety of pitches to keep hitters off balance, all while maintaining my strength, control, and composure.
